We look at each slope separately, because hail often hits one side of a house harder than the others. We check shingles for bruising and granule loss, then look at the soft metals on and around the roof, which often show the size and direction of the hail.
Everything we find is photographed and organized so you can see it for yourself and share it with your insurance company if you decide to file a claim.
You file the claim yourself with your insurer. Illinois guidance for roofers says contractors cannot file a claim on your behalf or represent you on the claim, and Illinois law prohibits contractors from offering to pay or waive your deductible.
